Halloween-themed show to open at Powder Ridge

MIDDLEFIELD — A New England Halloween tradition has found a new home on the slopes of Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort, as Graveyard Productions brings its trademark “thrills and chills” to another Connecticut institution.

Graveyard Productions, which has offered seasonal Halloween attractions at locations across Connecticut since 1991, is set to fully integrate its maze-like path into the mountain’s topography, requiring a trip up the ski lift to begin the journey, according to a press release.

“Bringing the Graveyard to Powder Ridge is a homecoming in a very real sense,” founder Ernie Romegialli said in a prepared statement. “It began over 30 years ago in my front yard just five minutes away. We can’t wait to tackle the incredible creative opportunities that this unique venue gives us — this will truly be a haunting like no other.”

Although Powder Ridge Mountain Park and Resort has roots dating to the 1950s, its revisioning in 2014 as an affiliate of Portland’s popular Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park has made it a year-round destination, with summer activities including disk golf, mountain biking, tubing, zip lines, concerts and more, the news release said.

“Halloween has always been my favorite holiday,” Powder Ridge CEO Sean Hayes said in the statement. “Therefore, we always knew it would be one of our prominent mountain experiences. We’ve been working with Graveyard Productions for almost two years to ensure a one-of-a-kind haunted experience.”

The 2022 season is set to begin Sept. 30, and run weekends through the end of October. Tickets will be available starting Sept. 1. For information, visit PowderRidgePark.com.
