Honolulu could tighten reins on short-term vacation rentals

[ad_1]

HONOLULU — Honolulu officials are hunting at new methods to control short-time period vacation rentals in household regions to handle not only parking considerations but the need to develop cost-effective, lengthier-term rentals.

A monthly bill accepted by the Honolulu City Council’s zoning and preparing committee would power renters to pony up for a 90-day continue to be instead of the present-day 30-day minimal. The bill, which addresses problems about short-expression rentals in residential locations, primarily Kailua, could go before the comprehensive council in April.

The invoice would also ban tourists from parking on streets in close proximity to their short-phrase rentals and have to have bed-and-breakfast homeowners to deliver one off-avenue parking spot for every bed room, the Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports.
